The holidays – the most wonderful time of the year! But sometimes the hustle and bustle of holiday parties and shopping can become overwhelming and cloud the true meaning of it all. So take a step back and cherish some time with family and friends. While reflecting on the highlights of 2015, let us cheers to the new year.
This winter sangria will be perfect for your New Year’s Eve toast. This adult beverage has a wonderful blend of fall/winter fruit. Clementines, cranberries and apples… yum!
We pour our bottle of dry white wine (that someone probably brought as a dinner gift) and add two bottles of hard cider. We prefer low sugar hard cider since there is so much sugar in the wine and fruit already. No one wants that headache the next morning!
We cube our apples and peel our clementines. If you want to leave the skin on your apples, go ahead! Add them to the wine/cider mixture. Let this goodness sit in the fridge for at least an hour to soak.
You can add the cranberries as is, or freeze them so they are natural ice cubes. If you want to get creative, add them to your ice cube tray! If you want to get REALLY fancy, put the cranberries in these easy to use ice cube spheres! 🙂
Putting cranberries in the ice is super cute and makes the red pop out of the glass. We all know we drink with our eyes first! Enjoy!
Makes 6 drinks
1 bottle of dry white wine
2 bottles of hard cider (low sugar)
2 red delicious apples
1 cup cranberries
Pour the white wine and hard cider in a pitcher. Cube your apples, leave the skin on if you want. Peel the clementines and pull them apart. Pour those along with cranberries in pitcher and let sit for at least one hour. Scoop some fruit into a glass and pour the liquid – enjoy!
It is fun to freeze the cranberries into your ice cubes!
