Thank you for visiting our page! We are Mollie and Maris, a hungry couple hailing from the East Coast with a passion for all things food and travel.
We decided to start this blog in July 2015 for two reasons. First, we wanted to share our favorite dining and happy hour experiences so that you (our fellow food lovers) have a resource to discover the best local restaurants. If we could, we’d eat out every day, but like most mid-twenty year olds, we simply don’t have the funds (or the metabolisms) to make that a reality. So, the second section of our blog offers healthy and easy recipes for you to make at home. We believe in a balanced and economic lifestyle. Homemade meals during the workweek allow us to eat right and save money to enjoy meals out on the weekends. Both Division I athletes in college, we know the importance of feeding your body the right way to keep you energized and happy. Both sections of our blog intend to give you access to the freshest tastes and plates, whether you’re dining in or out.
I was born and raised on the Main Line in the Philadelphia suburbs, and have had an evolving relationship with food. It’s hard to believe that entering college, my favorite meal was microwaved Spaghettios. My cooking inexperience was on full display – I once tried to put a frozen pizza in the oven with the cardboard and plastic wrap (shout out to my roommate Gabe for stopping me). I learned to cook after taking up an interest in the Food Network (who doesn’t love Chopped marathons?!). Now, I invent dishes with fresh produce and organic meats that marry flavors and make your taste buds holler. My cooking journey would win the “Most Improved” award, so no matter how inexperienced you are, there is always room to grow (pun intended, I love veggie gardens)! I love cooking up easy, healthy takes on classic comfort food favorites, as well as developing new recipes. I try to cook meals that are quick, practical and full of bold flavor. I have an appetite for almost anything, especially raw oysters, steamed blue crabs and craft beer.
I’m as cliché of a Maryland native as you can get: I’m all about crab cakes, football, and if it wasn’t obvious – Old Bay. I’m a seafood lover at heart, but I have a secret affair with Italian food. And hot sauce. I put it on everything. Like Mollie, my experience with cooking has come a long way. In all fairness, when your mom has the cooking skills of a gourmet chef and she makes your lunch for you all the way until you graduate high school, there’s not much incentive to cook for yourself. I realized it was time to learn to cook after smoking up the kitchen when I burned my Easy Mac in the microwave (apparently water is a requirement when heating dry noodles). Now I’m proud to say I pack my lunch every day, and work with Mollie to create fresh recipes for dinner. The outside aisles of the grocery store are where I live (produce, meat, and more produce). But cheese, ice cream, and beer somehow always appear in our fridge as well. And hot sauce. Did I mention hot sauce?
